Troubleshooting Guide

Simple solutions to attempt before calling us.

If you experience any trouble with your products or system, you may always call us for help and service. But here are a few simple solutions you can attempt before calling us to your home for a service visit.

Air Conditioning Equipment Checklist

  1. Check to make sure that your thermostat is set in the “cool” position and set below the current room temperature.
  2. Ensure that your outdoor air conditioning (condensing unit) is running:
    • Is the outdoor fan spinning?
      • If not, schedule Service call.
    • If the fan is running, is the air coming out warm or cool?
      • If air is cool, schedule Service Call.
    • Is there ice accumulation on the copper lineset going to the unit?
      • If yes, schedule Service Call.
  3. Ensure that the blower motor in your furnace is running. (If the thermostat is in the “cool” position, the furnace blower should be running.)
    • If not, check to make sure the on / off switch at the furnace or by the attic entrance is in the “ON” position. This switch looks like a normal light switch, but is used to power the furnace. This switched is frequently turned off by accident, especially during the holidays, or when someone is in the attic.
  4. Check the circuit breakers in the circuit breaker box (or electrical panel), most likely mounted to an outside wall in the back or side of the house, or in the garage. Are they all in the “On” position?
    • If not, try resetting circuit breaker. If it “trips” again, leave off and schedule Service Call.
  5. Check all return air grilles to make sure they are not blocked by furniture.
    • Check all supply air registers to make sure they are open and blowing air. (The return air grilles are normally located on your walls and are wide and flat).
  6. Be sure that your air filters are clean. The filters can be one-inch filters located in the return air grills throughout the house OR, you may have Media Filters mounted on the furnace in the attic. One inch filters should be changed monthly and media filters changed every six months. Dirty filters can decrease system performance and efficiency.
  7. Check all supply air registers to make sure they are open and blowing air. (The return air grilles are normally located on your walls or ceiling and are wide and flat).
  8. If the system is still not running, please call to schedule a Service Call.

Gas Furnace Equipment

  1. Check to make sure that your thermostat is set in the “Heat” position and set above the current room temperature.
    1. Ensure that the blower motor in your furnace is running. (If the thermostat is in the “Heat” position, the furnace blower should be running.)
If not, check to make sure the on / off switch at the furnace or by the attic entrance is in the “ON” position. This switch looks like a normal light switch, but is used to power the furnace. This switched is frequently turned off by accident, especially during the holidays, or when someone is in the attic.
  2. Check the circuit breakers at the electrical panel to make sure they are in the “On” position.
  3. Be sure that your air filters are clean. The filters can be one-inch filters located in the return air grills throughout the house OR, you may have Media Filters mounted on the furnace in the attic. 4. Check all return air grilles to make sure they are not blocked by furniture.
  5. Check all supply air registers to make sure they are open and blowing air. (The return air grilles are normally located on your walls or ceiling and are wide and flat).
  6. If the system is still not running, please call to schedule a Service Call.
